What makes KMD special to you? Self-celebratory

I'm running a writing competition at the moment - just a line, paragraph, however much you want, on what makes KMD special for you.

Here's Elle's answer (not their real name) - and her illustration!

"I think – I know, rather – that lingerie is important to me. My friends and partners know and identify me by it, but more importantly, I feel its importance deeply within.

During high school, before I thought that I was deserving of my self-love, I found it very easy to blame everything that I thought was wrong with how I felt on my body. I was depressed, and when I looked at the thin and beautiful girls with so many friends, my size was an easy scapegoat.

It wasn’t until I decided one day that being sad was horrible and stupid that I started to take small steps towards self-confidence. I cantered as many small decisions throughout the day as I could around what would make me happiest. I also started to dress myself the way I imagined I’d dress someone else if I could.

Soon, I discovered to transformative and magical powers of pretty underwear. In the mirror, it taught me that I could see myself as beautiful and that I was deserving of self-love. At first I just bought cute and lacy underwear, but I pretty quickly discovered KMD in the search for a good suspender belt, and I haven’t been able to kick my love for this brand since!

KMD made me feel proud of myself. And now, in the face of unbelievable stress that I won’t waste words on here, lingerie makes me feel like things are okay. If I can get myself dressed in the morning – and dressed beautifully – then everything is fine. Kiss Me Deadly plays an enormous role in that. There are few days out of the week where I’m not wearing at least one item (usually my long black or short white suspender) from you, and when all this stress is over, lingerie will go back to being what it usually is for me: fun, self-celebratory, and really, really wonderful to wear."
